Player 0.0 is the first virtual competition of its kind for F1® fans in Bulgaria, in which the best driver is the one who doesn't drink. Participants will compete on special simulators for a place in the world final, where they can face off against three-time F1® world champion and official Heineken® 0.0 ambassador Max Verstappen.
The Player 0.0 initiative is part of Heineken®'s global platform to promote responsible alcohol consumption called "When You Drive, Never Drink". This platform aims to increase road safety and promote responsible behavior in both the real world and the virtual racing world. The main ambassador of Heineken® 0.0 and advocate for responsible consumption is the three-time Formula 1® world champion, Max Verstappen.
In 2016 Heineken® enters the world of motorsports and commits its efforts against drink driving. With the launch of the Never Drink When You Drive campaign, the brand is using its partnership with Formula 1® as a platform to reach an audience of millions. Over the years, the initiative has been supported by notable figures such as Sir Jackie Stewart and Nico Rosberg. From February 2023 Max Verstappen is the new ambassador for Heineken® 0.0, playing a key role in promoting responsible drinking behaviour.
Heineken®'s Player 0.0 initiative aims to find not only the fastest, but also the most responsible and attentive driver. The Player 0.0 virtual race invites Formula 1® fans in Bulgaria to participate in a unique race that will be held in three stages. The first stage – qualification – has already started and will continue until October 25, 2024, airing the best participants who will move on to the next phase. Those 32 participants with the highest scores will get a chance to participate in the local finals where they will compete on simulators. The winners will have the opportunity to qualify for the Player 0.0 World Finals in Madrid, part of the GamerGy 2024 event, and compete for the title of "Best Driver" on simulators against Max Verstappen.
This year, the Heineken® campaign was also upgraded with the "Best Driver" to show beer fans that they always have a choice - to choose non-alcoholic Heineken® 0.0 or not to drive. Verstappen also stars in the video accompanying the "Best Driver" campaign. The trick is that when someone has to drive the company home after a night out, the only one who can be chosen is the one who hasn't consumed alcoholic beverages.
The finalists in the Bulgarian edition of Heineken® Player 0.0 will be welcomed by Jordanin Tsvetanov, who will help them with useful tips on how to be even faster on the track. It is part of the larger sim racing community. He is the manager of one of the first professional Bulgarian sim racing teams, Negative Delta SRT, and actively participates in a number of Bulgarian and international sim racing competitions and championships. Apart from all this, Tsvetanov aka DPMN3 on Twitch handles all the marketing part of his team and takes care of recruiting and scouting new sim racing competitors for the Negative Delta SRT team.
